Hobart CBD breakfast on the waterfront
There will be a free cyclist breakfast on the Hobart Waterfront at Mawson Place (Corner Davey and Argyle St) from 6am.

Last year ABC local radio broadcast live from the site and there were lots of free food and hot beverages thanks to Bakers Delight, Vaalia yoghurt, Bananas Australia, Hobart City Council & CyclingSouth. Cycle Angels were on the main cycle routes into Hobart to provide support and encouragement. There were activities such as Crank Virtual Reality Cycling where you could have a go at riding some of the worlds great cycling routes and ABC provided helmet hair repair. The CyclingSouth member councils had some of their latest bike projects and plans on display. There were other stalls such as Bicycle Tasmania - join and get insurance coverage while riding and, RACT Bike Assist to get you back on the road when your bike breaks down and  plan your next cycling holiday with Island Cycle Tours. We hope to have similar offerings in 2010.
At 7.55am everyone will get into formation for the great aerial bike photo.

First time riders - Plan your route
See the bike maps page for info on getting from home to your workplace. If the distance is too great you may want to drive or bus for part of the way and ride the rest.

Bicycle Parking in Hobart's CBD

- Tasmania had the second highest proportion of new riders at 17% (only NSW was higher with 19%) and this figure has steadily grown over the past 3 years.
- Tassie had the lowest proportion of female riders at 29% (tied with NSW) but almost an even number of male and female riders were riding to work for the first time, which indicates that there is a low proportion of regular female riders in Tassie.
- The number of regular riders who registered was lower than last year (-7%)
- The majority of total riders rode between 5-10kms with most new riders travelling shorter distances of less than 5km.
- Most participants were aged between 31 and 50 years.
- Of the new riders, nearly 80% usually travelled to work by car.
