Codas Computers & Telecoms Charity Bike Ride, Ulverstone – Sunday 3 October A choice of 2 ride distances. Ride to Worship Week, 9-15 October 2010 Are you a cyclist who attends a place of worship? Why not cycle to your place of worship with people across Australia during the week of Saturday 9th to Friday 15th October. Cycling is healthy, it's fun, and it is one way we can reduce our contribution to climate change. You can take part in Ride to Worship Week as an individual, with family and friends, and even encourage your whole place of worship to participate by cycling or use other environmentally-friendly forms of transport. Rotary/Make A Wish Cycle Challenge - Sunday 31st October.
Riders can choose either a 38km, 76km or 106km circuit. All rides start and finish at Kensington Park, New Norfolk. Long Circuit starts at 9:30, Medium and Short Circuits start at 10:00am. Riders are encouraged to seek sponsorship from family, work colleagues or business's either by the km or for the whole trip. Food and drinks will be supplied at the end of the Challenge. TasGas Grindelwald Challenge - Saturday 29 May 2010 Held in the picturesque Tamar Valley amongst the famous Tamar Vineyards, it is not only a road riders race, but also a spectators joy to watch with many vantage points on the course of this great circuit race. Riders depart Legana at 1pm and complete 4 laps of the iconic Brady's Lookout-Rosevears loop, finishing at Grindelwald Village. Local young guns Ben Grenda, Will Clarke and Tom Robinson will be up against the other good local riders including our states glamour Mountain Bike couple in Ben Mather and Rowena Fry (who rides C Grade against the boys). Campbell Town to Coles Bay race - Saturday 22nd May 2010 (100km) Registrations taken from 11am, with compulsory race briefing at 11.45am for 12 noon start. Departing from Campbell Town on the Lake Leake Road (B34), tackling the undulating gradual climb to Lake Leake summit (38km), then descend 19kms of downhill. The course meets the Tasman highway and flattens before a bump over Cherry Tree Hill and cyclists will turn right onto the final ‘flat’ Coles Bay road into the 60km/h signed finish. In the 19th Century this area was the Silicon Valley of the Southern Hemisphere with the rivulet driving mills, tanneries, breweries, distilleries and a host of other manufacturing enterprises. A copy of the historical notes will be provided. The ride ends at Cascade Brewery. Organised by Bicycle Tasmania. Bike Week: Mountain Bike Orienteering - Saturday 13 March 2010 Come-and-Try MTBNav event, held in conjunction with the Tasmanian MTBNav Championships at Pillies Rd, Ellendale. Short and long courses with easy navigation and riding, on quiet tracks through forest in gently rolling hills. Many age/gender classes, but no need to be competitive. Not suitable for road bikes. Ride your bike to the Walk Against Warming in the Florentine Valley - Saturday 12 December 2009 This year’s Walk Against Warming starts at 12 noon on Saturday 12th December in Tasmania's Upper Florentine. The walk will be part of a global day of climate action, coinciding with international climate talks in Copenhagen. Come along to the Walk against Warming and find out how forests help fight climate change, and the positive opportunities for expanding our renewable-energy and low-carbon industries. Make your voice heard! Join the call to world leaders for a strong and fair global climate deal at the Copenhagen climate talks. Make your trip to the Walk Against Warming carbon neutral. Ride your bike to the Upper Florentine, arriving Friday night, in time to join in the fun. Around the Bay in a Day® - Sunday 17 October 2010 Around the Bay in a Day is Australia's premier mass participation bike ride. Leading into it’s eighteenth year, the event is experiencing significant growth, with over 15,600 riders participating in 2009. The event offers a choice of five ride distances: 50km, 80km School Challenge, 100km, 210km and 250km. With the exception of the 100km ride, which starts in Sorrento, all rides start and finish at the same location – Alexandra Gardens in the heart of the city of Melbourne. Bicycle Tasmania BIG Ride around the Channel - Sunday 15 November 2009 There is a choice of two distances both starting at 9am from the Margate Dru Point picnic grounds.. The 106km Around The Channel route is one of the best day rides in Tasmania, with stunning coastal and mountain views. It is slightly shorter and a bit hillier than the Bike Week Century Ride so offers a similar challenge for those wanting a full day out on their bikes. The entry fee includes a food and drink stop at Woodbridge. The 35km Tinderbox Loop route provides a shorter option and is suitable for families though riders must be over 14 years old. Children in bike seats, trailers or on tandems and trailer bikes are very welcome. This route provides some great views over the Derwent, Storm Bay and NW Bay and although a shortish ride, it does include some real hills and the lovely Tinderbox Beach. Tamar Valley Cycle Challenge – Sunday 15 November Sally’s Ride, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Central Launceston, is running four rides of varying distances through the Tamar Valley – 25km, 45km, 95km and 140km length. The start and finish is at Royal Park via Park St in Launceston. Participants must be 16yo of age or older unless a member of a cycling club and entries and payment can be submitted on line via the Rotary Clubs website www.rccl.org.au There is also a corporate team challenge. MTB Nav on Hobart’s eastern shore – Sunday 25 October 2009 MTBNav is a 6-hour teams navigation challenge that will pick the eyes out of the great MTB country on Hobart's eastern shore between Geilston Bay and Tranmere. Teams can consist of between 2 and 5 riders who must stay together during the event. You will be provided with a custom map that shows greater detail where there is good, off road riding.
